Vintage Newari Style Garnet and Sterling Silver Filigree Mandala Earrings

$125.00
These beautiful earrings are made in traditional Newari style craftsmanship dating back to the time of the Kingdom of Lalitpur [Patan]Nepal.
Executed in 925 Sterling Silver they are set with three different sizes of Garnet cabochons which form a sacred Mandala pattern.
The details of the filigree patterns surrounding the stones are simply exquisite.
We fell in love with this unique style when we first came to Boudhanath / Kathmandu where I discovered it in one of the shops close to the Huge Tibetan Buddhist Stupa, famous pilgrimage site visited by Tibetan Buddhists from all over the world.
We found out that it is a "dying skill" since it is so work-involved that the artisans skilled in it just don't make a good enough hour wage in Nepal and give up their traditional livelihood to become workers in the jewelry industry in Malaysia instead.
So we are happy to be able to offer you these little jewels as a special keepsake to be treasured.
